Thank you very much for the information it was very informative withal information technology didn't aid with my situation. My network is fine Im using a TP-LInk N600 dual-band router I can pick up the 2.4GHz band just non the 5Ghz band which I want. I take later on contacted SONY in Thailand and they tell me that this PC is non compatible with the 5Ghz standard. They likewise said that it can not exist altered internally, and They informed me to purchase an external wireless adapter. Can you clarify if this is indeed the case and that I can not alter the internal wireless card for a dual band model . . .

Thank you lot in accelerate

The reason for not being able to see the network is that the 5GHz is based on a/n engineering science while the 2.4 GHz is based on b/1000/n. It all depends on the network adapter. If you can get into your Wifi network router settings (mostly admin page volition exist either 10.0.0.one or 192.168.ane.one), y'all can attempt to change the "fashion" to but "n" if your adpater tin can handle the applied science equally it should.

I have the aforementioned issue. The doesn't reply specfically to whether the Qualcomm Atheros adpater - AR948WB-EG is uniform with dual ii.4 & 5 functioning. If it isn't compatible, you probably tin't assist. But, if is compatible then I know to go on with help search. I personally can't determine the adapter's compatiblity with dual 2.4 and five operation. Your assist would be profoundly appreciated!

Was looking for the same solution, but from dissimilar sources they advise that the Qualcomm Atheros AR9485WB-EG is non capable of connecting to 5GHz Wi-Fi. To connect I think you lot might want to alter your Wi-Fi flake.

I was really struggling to get my Sony Vaio Pro 13 to recognize my 5.2Ghz wireless . Information technology recognized the 2.4Ghz, simply not the 5.2Ghz. This is what worked for me:

1) Go to Device Manager, right-click on your wireless adapter, and choose "Properties"

2) Under the "Advanced" tab, scroll downward to "Wireless Manner" and make sure that yous select "802.11a/b/g"

*Note: Actually, any selection with an "a" subsequently the "802.xi" volition let yous access the 5Ghz frequency. Options with "b" or "thou" allow you to access ii.4Ghz. See here: https://glassonionblog.wordpress.com/2008/08/04/wireless-protocols-ieee-80211-a-b-g-northward-compared/

For those interested, a work around to this trouble is to alter the "wireless radio" mode of your router. hey normally default to 54Mbps for maximum compatibility with older devices, but you should exist able to alter this to a higher setting like 144Mbps or 300Mbps. While non as fast as the 5G connexion, you can at least benefit from faster speeds in the event your electric current hardware is unable to recognize a 5G bespeak.

Somewhere on the outside of the router will be something like this http://192.168.x.x This is your access web address for the router. The admission password should too exist right in that location. For security, be certain to change the password and write it down somewhere condom for time to come access. If yous lose the password y'all'll have to reset the whole router.

Once inside, the wireless radio mode setting is usually an advanced one. Each router is different so y'all might have to look around a bit. But retrieve to not change anything you're non sure nearly. Once in that location it may look something like this:

Wireless Frequency ii.4GHz

Enable Wireless Radio Enable/disable the wireless radio.

Wireless Fashion

Up to 54Mbps (best for wireless compatibility) Trade compatibility with older wireless devices for wireless range/performance benefits.
Up to 144Mbps (best for wireless range)
Upward to 300Mbps (best for wireless functioning)

Promise this helps.
